The Sacred Heart of Jesus

The Feast of the Sacred Heart is celebrated in the small village of Fontana.

The church is considered to be a national sanctuary of the Sacred Heart. The foundation stone of the structure was laid on 29 January 1893. The church was consecrated twelve years to that day on 29 January 1905.
The church is endowed with numerous works of art of certain importance, artists like Giuseppe Cali and Camilleri Cauchi contributed to the painting of the church. The titular statue was made by Wistin Camilleri and donated to the church by him. The main altarpiece, showing the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, was crowned with a golden crown on 18 June 1993.
