Dwejra Tower - Din l-Art Ħelwa (NGO)

Dwejra Tower is a beautifully restored 17th-century coastal watchtower overlooking the rugged landscape of Dwejra Bay. Built in 1652 by the Knights of St John to protect Gozo’s western coastline, the tower stands today as an important heritage site managed by Din l-Art Ħelwa, Malta’s national trust for cultural and natural heritage. Its elevated position offers sweeping views across the Inland Sea, Fungus Rock and the dramatic cliffs that make this part of Gozo so iconic.

The tower is usually open to the public on Sundays from 10.30am to 3.30pm, and whenever the raised flag indicates volunteers are present. Entry is free, although donations are appreciated to support the ongoing upkeep and conservation of the site.

Inside, visitors can explore a small exhibition about the tower’s military history and its restoration, while the rooftop provides one of the area’s best vantage points. It is a calm, atmospheric stop where the island’s story unfolds against a backdrop of unforgettable natural scenery.
