I met Ramona Preca nearly 17 years ago when herself and her sister opened Palazzo Preca, a super cool restaurant offering a selection of gourmet Mediterranean dishes on Strait Street.
Strait Street at that time was empty. Walking along the under-developed cobbled street, you would find the back of M&S and perhaps the odd bin bag. Fast forward seventeen years and it is now one of the meccas of Malta’s nightlife. Hip restaurants, bustling bars, and a real authentic buzz of the city. There is live music cascading out of corners, doorways, and even from the sky. But let’s not forget…not only did these girls pave the way for this explosion of culture, but more importantly, they have stood the test of time.
The proof is in their puddings (because they are sooooo yummy!)
What inspires Ramona Preca?
Ramona is a mum, a wife and a professional chef. She loves getting up early and finds time when everyone is sleeping to collect her thoughts. When she’s not working tirelessly in the restaurant, creating and cooking, she is filming for her TV series. Speaking with Ramona, she mentioned how Covid had made her realize how much time she spent at work and since she has welcomed the time at home with her family and is pursuing a more balanced work-life routine. But being this passionate, and inspired by new ideas every day nothing will keep her away from the kitchen.
