Debbie Holt shares her heartfelt goodbye to her second-hand clothing shop ‘Delightful Debra’s Preloved Boutique’ in Gozo…

For years now, Debbie has been a unique, and exciting promoter of everything preloved, second-hand, and sustainable on the island of Gozo.

Here at GITH, we’ve always been huge supporters of Debbie and her delightful preloved clothing boutique, but now she’s saying goodbye to Gozo. Luckily, we will be left in good hands when it comes to sustaining the preloved clothing business on Gozo, and Debbie explained to us exactly what’s going to happen moving forward without her at the helm!

My name is Deb Holt.

I’ve lived in Gozo for a few years but now it’s time for me to say goodbye. I’m the creator of Delightful Debra’s Preloved Boutique, a very successful enterprise offering used, thrifted, second-hand items at very inexpensive prices. I have selected, displayed, advertised, styled and promoted preloved clothing for the past few years. This is my hobby and I love it. Every bag that comes in, I open with the excitement of a child at Christmas. What treasures will I find today? There was once a Mappin and Webb 1960s vintage bag, another time Vivienne Westwood jeans and always lots of beautiful items in good as new condition!

I started during Covid times, to ease the boredom. What started in a spare bedroom has grown incredibly, thanks to the amazing support of like minded people in Gozo. I took in adult clothing, shoes and accessories on consignment. When/if sold we would share the money. Unsold items were donated to charity. We have donated to local charities, individuals in need, international crises, the containers to Ghana and the SPCA. Over the last 3 years I have seen my consigners grow to over 300 and my shoppers just kept coming.

But now it’s time for me to move on. We’re returning to the UK, as the pull of family has become too strong, and I miss them so much.

Luckily, I’m leaving the future of preloved clothing in Gozo in good hands! I am passing the baton to a like minded mother and daughter duo. They share my passion and will continue the concept of Delightful Debra’s Preloved Boutique. They will be based in Xaghra and offer the same appointment service, stock affordable items, maintain confidentiality for both the consigners and shoppers, and welcome you to their space!

I want to thank everyone in Gozo for allowing me this success. You’ve all been amazing, taken my breath away with your friendship, and the way you have allowed this mad old bird to play at shop!

Please support Marita and Timea as they continue with this endeavour, I’m certain they will be amazing.
