Tracey Mizzi runs a successful and forward-thinking beauty spa business, The Secret Day Spa in Xaghra. She is a wife and a mum and a glass half full kind of girl, believing that the best is yet to come.
Tracey is a client and my go-to-spa for all things beauty on Gozo so it was a pleasure to open a dialogue away from those two things with her for GITH Woman. As a respected business owner, she is dedicated, dynamic and devoted and I have had the privilege to witness this first hand.
Being most proud of her achievements to date with the Secret Day Spa she has always dreamt of owning her own spa. It is by far the biggest achievement in her career and no mean feat. Running a client-focused business full time, giving the energy she does, along with working long hours whilst running the family is an honourable and magnificent achievement and this we celebrate that and her having time to answer our questions!
What are you excited about right now?
We are currently focused on two main things at the spa. One is bringing a brand new and exciting treatment to Gozo and the second, we are working on a new and enhanced website that will give the business a new dimension in the health & beauty sector.
What or who inspires you and drives you to do what you do?
I believe everyone deserves to feel confident, beautiful, and pampered. At the Spa, we try to find what looks best on each client and enhance their natural beauty. The journey of bringing that out inspires me. Our research for perfection and to provide the best for the customer is definitely an inspiration for us all. And what drives me? Apart from my family and staff support, client satisfaction is my greatest drive.
What has been your biggest lesson in life so far and what keeps you sane?
Being a mother really defines you. It is such a strong and emotional moment that changes your life completely. This has certainly been my biggest lesson. I always try my best to find time for myself and my family. Together my husband, our three-year-old son, and our dog gives me the peace of mind required to clear out and reset.
What advice would you give your younger self?
To believe in yourself and to have that gut-feeling that you can make your dreams happen.
What’s your tip for life-work balance?
This is a difficult question as having your own business is quite time and energy-consuming, but we try to at least keep one day for family time and going out, When possible we go for walks or enjoy some playing time together. Also, we try to find some time together at the end of every day.
what advice would you give someone else who wants to start their own business?
Give everything to make it succeed, plus it is also important to be surrounded by the ideal persons to help you make it.
I love Twilight by Stephenie Meyer. Escaping into an unreal world with romance and fantasy. I also love to listen to relaxing music, most probably I am a bit biased on this. So I would go for anything by Enya.
.
The Takeaway. Be inspired by Tracey’s belief in herself and the ability to follow her dreams. Champion her dedication and her work ethic and celebrate her achievements as a young businesswoman on Gozo.
