We love being surrounded by the local products from their shop, deli and butcher, the incredible wine selection from all over the world, and always end up with a whole host of products to take home which makes the dining experience here so special.
The team at Vini e Capricci take the highest quality products and combine them to make flavourful delights, that you’ll be thinking about forever, and these two fantastic dishes below are no exception.
Check out the ‘Signature Fish Soup’.
This dish sounds simple, but this classic is taken to another level of local delicacy. Bursting with flavour, and all the best of the Mediterranean, this fish soup speaks for itself.
Vini e Capricci prides itself on using only locally sourced fish. Not only are the fish used from local waters, but they also enlist the help of the local fishermen to provide the small fish that go into making the depth of flavour in the multiple broths they make! That’s also why this dish varies seasonally, depending on what’s in our local waters at that time. Sometimes you may find calamari, local white fish, red prawns, scampi and more! The herbs only add to the overwhelming deep flavour that this dish already provides. A true Gozitan meal, that encompasses the best Gozo has to offer.
This dish works whether you’re looking to warm up on a chilly evening, or are enjoying the sun in the height of summer and want to taste the freshness of traditional Gozo culture.
Next up is the ‘Casutin Bake’
This is what Vini e Capricci call comfort food, and they’re not wrong. They suggest you can have this dish at antipasto, or tapas, but we’re greedy and definitely would want to eat this all in one!
This cheese is made from cow milk from the Piemonte region in Italy and is specifically designed for cooking, whether it’s baked, grilled or whatever you want to do. But Vini and Capricci have found the perfect way to serve this delicious cheese. They take locally sourced Maltese bread, cut a hole in it, fill it with garlic butter, caramelised onions, and this amazing cheese, and then bake it to melted perfection. It’s then topped with crispy guanciale, and the salty, creamy, sweet, cheesy-ness, matches with the crunch of local bread, all coming together to create a mouthful you’ll want more of.
The quality of the ingredients is so clear in this simple, yet flavour-complex dish, and the star of the show, Casutin, is something you just have to try, whether it’s to share, or all just for you. This one really hits the spot.
You cannot fault the experience at Vini e Capricci by Abraham’s. The setting itself is just superb and will make you feel surrounded by elegance and decadence. Make sure you book your table in the Vinoteca ahead of time, to secure your spot to try one of these dishes this season.
