Fun For All The Family
Hosts, the Micallef family of Icaro Cruises met us at Mgarr Marina (just near one80 restaurant). They had packed a picnic basket full of sandwiches, snacks, and refreshing drinks, and so we were ready to embark on an unforgettable adventure. The captain is a seasoned sailor who has a deep love and knowledge of the surrounding waters. He assured us we were in for a day filled with beautiful sights and fun-filled Gozo activities and he wasn’t wrong!
As the sun rose over Gozo, we eagerly set sail and our first stop was the renowned Blue Lagoon on Comino Island – one of the top things to do in Gozo. The moment we arrived, we were greeted by crystal-clear waters in the most vibrant shade of turquoise imaginable. It was a sight straight out of a postcard!
The children couldn’t wait to dive in, and they weren’t disappointed. With snorkeling gear provided by the friendly crew, they happily and safely explored the underwater wonderland teeming with marine life and joyously splashed around for hours.
Hidden Caves and Coastal Treasures
We navigated with finesse and poise, whilst being guided to hidden caves and secluded coves along Gozo’s breathtaking coastline. Places that are inaccessible to larger vessels, which made our adventure all the more exclusive.
The children were enthralled by the intriguing rock formations and secret caves, their imaginations running wild with tales of pirates and buried treasures. We couldn’t help but marvel at the stunning coastal watchtowers, which stood as stoic witnesses to Gozo’s rich historical past.
A Relaxing Retreat At A Private Beach
Our private boat charter took us to a hidden and secluded rocky beach which turned out to be quite a surprise. The swim to shore was about 200 meters, the kids found it easy and loved the natural slides created by the super slippery rocks at the water’s edge. But even better, this tranquil oasis, away from the bustling crowds had hidden beauty benefits. As we strolled along the length of the dry shore, collecting seashells, we were met with a plethora of natural clay, so we made natural body masks and lay basking in the sun before returning to the boat.
When the clay had dried, we swam back and the clay naturally dissolved from our skin into the ocean. What a treat and all part of the package with Icaro (and not a beauty salon in sight!).
