These 10 Gozo Restaurants Nail It Every Single Time.
When it comes to choosing a restaurant in Gozo, at first glance you may not know which way to go. But out of all the restaurants in Gozo, you simply have to try these!
1. One80 Kitchen Gozo, mgarr
One of the first restaurants you see when arriving in Gozo is One 80 Kitchen. Look over to the right when you’re on the boat and you will see the award-winning restaurants azure blue and white terrace hanging over the ocean enticing you to sample one of the best breakfasts on Gozo or perhaps you will graze away on their sharing plates for lunch or dinner? Either way, expect impeccable service and stunning and tasty plates of food.
2. ta tona restaurant, Mgarr
Ta Tona is set up in the cobbled alley in Mgarr behind Gleneagles pub and is loved by locals. This popular Gozo restaurant offers an extensive menu but this does not detract from the quality. Sit out on their busy terrace or in the cool inside and enjoy the taste of the Mediterranean cooked to perfection, all served with a huge smile.
3. Osteria scottadito, nadur
Osteria Scottadito is a bustling, super-friendly Gozo restaurant located in Nadur behind the church in a really pretty square. Run by food-loving Italians, this cosy Italian Osteria is a typical Cucina Marchigiano-Romagnola, full of charm serving fresh and homemade.
4. maldonado bistro, victoria
Maldonado Bistro is a staple restaurant on Gozo, and in our opinion, one of the best. We love hiding out there during the low season and tucking into creative dishes with locally sourced ingredients. George and team always offer another way of looking at Maltese fare, and their deserts are to die for.
5. Country Terrace, Mgarr
Country Terrace has a knockout view, one of the best on Gozo Island, and is always a little bit special. Whether it be for lunch or dinner, you can shamelessly get on your best togs and feel like you deserve the best, because that is what you will get. Seasonal menus with extra specially sourced ingredients and a wine list and Gin trolley that will keep any connoisseur happy.
6. Tmun, Mgarr
Tmun Restaurant is on Michelins Guide to Gozo and when you go, you will see why. Chef Paul is a young talent who pushes boundaries with his food. Expect delicious Asian and Mediterranean influences and plates pretty as a picture.
7. Mulino, Qala
Mulino Restaurant is also a firm favourite with locals. Set on the outskirts of Qala, minutes from the ferry you will sit in a modern, open plan dining area and be served colourful, mouth-watering fare alongside great wine and great service.
8. il-KartelL, marsalforn
Il Kartell Restaurant is set on the seafront in Marsalforn in Gozo, the furthest away from the bay as you enter. Serving fresh seafood, and an ever-evolving catch of the day, you will not want to move once you have sat down. We always feel like we are on holiday when we eat here!
9. Maxokk Bakery, Nadur
No article about restaurants and food on Gozo would be complete without adding in Maxokk Bakery. Ok – not quite a restaurant, but you simply have to order one of their pizza’s while you are on the island. Order on the phone, pick it up an hour later and take it to your favourite Gozo hot spot and experience Gozo like a local.
10. Rew Rew, Mgarr Ix Xini
Find Mgarr Ix Xini by car (park up at the top of the bay in high season) and wander down to the infamous Gozo Restaurant featured in Brad and Angelina’s ‘By The Sea’. Although they are still dining out on this gem of a fact, this really is a pleasant beach-side restaurant. A bit pricey and you can’t book so it can get very busy – but the food is good, so be patient and take in the surroundings while you wait.
